The Government of Manitoba is providing $1.3M to MoveMobility Inc., a manufacturer of medical vans and wheelchair-accessible vehicles. Winnipeg-based manufacturer NFI Group recorded its first quarterly profit in three years, earning US$3M in the second quarter of 2024. The company’s president states that its supply chain issues have been improving.
NFI Group, a Winnipeg-based bus manufacturer, has been awarded a contract by New Jersey Transit Corp. for up to 1,300 buses. This includes an initial order of 175 buses with the option to purchase up to 1,125 additional buses.
A Japanese electric vehicle battery supplier had been considering Winnipeg for a $1.6B manufacturing plant but has chosen to build the facility in southern Ontario instead.

Workers at Griffin Wheel, a Winnipeg train parts manufacturing plant, have ratified a new contract and ended a 19-day lockout. The four-year agreement includes a 4% wage increase in the first and second years, and 3% in the third and fourth.
