The goal of these projects is to transition these communities away from diesel to help save energy costs and protect the environment. Regent College has sold its parking lot to Polygon Homes for $29M. The developer plans to build a condo tower on the site with construction set to begin early 2025 and complete in 2027. The tower will have 157 homes, 10K sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space on the ground floor, and a plaza.

Thompson Rivers University is spending $600K on a project to install more than 1K solar panels over the next five years. The university is expecting to have installed 540 solar panels by March 2025. When complete, the solar panels will help power the university’s Low-Carbon District Energy System.

The Government of Canada has announced around $145M in funding for constructing and repairing affordable homes across British Columbia. The funds will go towards the construction of more than 1K new homes and repair work for over 1.5K homes. About $1.3M will go to homes in Northern B.C. for the repair of over 70 units.
