The Government of British Columbia has announced that Highway 1 will receive a $245M widening project east of Revelstoke in fall 2024. $45M will come from the Government of Canada’s New Building Canada Fund, with the rest coming from the province. The project will expand the highway to four lanes, reducing congestion and improving safety, and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2028.

A new contract with Waste Connections will integrate garbage collection for the entire South Okanagan, improving efficiency and sustainability. New equipment, including single compartment trucks will enable future transitions to food waste collection, which requires a new facility.
The B.C. government is providing $65,000 to Big White Ski Resort in Kelowna to provide a mountain bus service from December 16 until the end of the ski season.
